About Me.

Ailsa Smith is a sound designer passionate about bringing worlds to life through audio. They hold a Bachelor's degree in Music Technology from Keele University and have completed a Post-Production Sound for Film, Games, and TV industry course at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) in London.

Although already an avid gamer—especially drawn to cozy indie titles like Stardew Valley and Spiritfarer—it was this industry course that reshaped their career path, inspiring them to pursue sound design for video games.

Now undertaking an MA in Sound Design for Video Games at Thinkspace Education, Ailsa continues to refine their skills through sound redesign projects, industry software exploration, and active engagement with game audio communities such as Into Games, AirWiggles, Discord servers, and Game Jams. Their goal is to absorb the knowledge and creativity of these spaces and establish themselves as a skilled and versatile sound designer.

The name Sugarbird originated as a playful nickname from a typo but has since come to represent the calming and melodic qualities found in their approach to sound.
